Attended a 1980's themed works Christmas function here. Lovely Hotel, comfy warm beds, cozy room, hot shower, great food - it was really fun and we all has a great night. The staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly throughout the night, despite the fact that is was a busy hectic evening. The hotel is in a lovely location within walking distance of the river, the castle and the pretty village of Brynbuga/Usk (though we didn't do that this time). I would highly recommend a visit here.
Absolutely gorgeous afternoon tea! Really beautifully presented...superb array of savoury and sweet elements. Everything tasted devine.
As a party we were well waited on and service was spot on.
This afternoon tea is substantial yet elegant-so much to enjoy! Thanks all-The Glen Yr Afon you catered and attended us first rate. Highly recommended.
Brilliant stay, friendly and helpful staff.
Room was clean and had everything you need, including, tea/ coffee/ biscuits/shampoo etc, windows opened which was lovely. Slept well, bed was comfy. Only one spare power point so needed to manage that, but not unusual for a hotel and could unplug kettle etc for extra points.
Breakfast was cooked perfectly, and lots of it. Proper apple juice! Walkable to the centre of Usk.
We booked this hotel for my parents and great Aunt to stay. The rooms were lovely. We then joined them for a Birthday celebration. The staff were amazing. Very obliging. The chef cooked something different for one of the guests. The food was excellent. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a break in Usk.
I booked this hotel for my mother's 80th, just close family and friends, eight in total. We all had a wonderful time and were very impressed with this hotel! Why? 1. Location. It is but 45 minutes' drive from home (Bristol) and located close to, but apart from, the pretty little town of Usk - to which you can walk to visit the pubs, shops and castle. 2. Architecture. Half of it is Victorian the other half Elizabethan (1992) and both complement each other to create a pleasing whole, set it well-kept grounds with outdoor seating and parking. Inside - the decor is smart and traditional with modern touches. There are a number of lounges and nooks and a library room where you can sit and pass the time, and a well-stocked bar. 3. Accessibility. My Mum needs a walker so can't manage stairs, there is a lift to all floors, the restaurant is down 3 small steps and she had a fully-accessible room. 4 Rooms. Perfect! I had a twin room which was very well furnished and comfortable with a spotless bathroom and Klimt prints on the walls. Classy! 5. Staff. Highly professional, helpful and accommodating. The serving staff at dinner and breakfast were extremely friendly, they added to the experience. 6. Food. Out of this world! Everything perfect. I always use the cheesecake as a measure of the quality of the food, and the Glen Yr Afon cheesecake gets 9.5 out of 10 for me (sorry guys! But I have never given a 10 so you're up there with the very best I've ever had!) Overall then, I highly recommend this as a place to stay to explore the area or for weddings / birthdays / anything!
Attended our friends 80th birthday party here, the function was in the library. We had a lovely afternoon. All 20 guests were sat around a big table so we could all see each other. The food was on the table right the way around. Waiting staff were very attentive with taking orders for beverages. All in all a lovely afternoon.
Always assured a warm welcome. Top quality service and fine food. Easy walk in to Usk if you fancy a change of scenery.
A family booking and it was amazing, food was excellent 👌 staff were so friendly and the service was A* would highly recommend
